DOE Announces $20 Million to Produce Clean Hydrogen from Nuclear Power

OxEon is partnering with PNW Hydrogen LLC, Idaho National Laboratory, the National Energy Technology Laboratory, National Renewable Energy Laboratory, the Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI), Arizona State University, UC Irvine and Siemens Energy to execute a Power-to-Power demonstration at the Palo Verde Generating Station , a 4-GW #nuclear power plant in #Arizona. This program was recently funded through the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE)'s HFTO and NE offices and will make progress on the DOE's #HydrogenShot goal of $1 per 1kg in 1 decade.

OxEon will build and integrate a solid oxide electrolysis stack to produce either #hydrogen via steam electrolysis, carbon monoxide by carbon dioxide electrolysis, or a mixture of the two (#syngas (CO-H2)) by co-electrolysis of steam and carbon dioxide. The produced carbon monoxide or syngas will then be fed to an OxEon Fischer Tropsch synthesis system to demonstrate production of liquid hydrocarbon fuels in a process known as Power To Fuels (aka #PTX or #Efuels). OxEon’s technical expertise will be used in the integrated system design, as well as operation of the system.

A Tribute to Moxie

It’s not everyday that something so amazing happens in the STEM world that the beer world pays it homage!

NASA’s Perseverance Mars Rover Extracts First Oxygen from Red Planet

The growing list of “firsts” for Perseverance, NASA’s newest six-wheeled robot on the Martian surface, includes converting some of the Red Planet’s thin, carbon dioxide-rich atmosphere into oxygen. A toaster-size, experimental instrument aboard Perseverance called the Mars Oxygen In-Situ Resource Utilization Experiment (MOXIE) accomplished the task.

Interplanetary First!: Utah company’s device extracts oxygen on Mars

For the first time in human history, oxygen has been extracted on another planet. Utah’s OxEon Energy created the device that makes the process work. A mini-factory that converts carbon dioxide on Mars into oxygen. They call it Soxe.

MOXIE Makes Oxygen on Mars!

The MOXIE System aboard NASA’s Perseverance Rover produced Oxygen on Mars in a first of its kind demonstration using the Solid Oxide Electrolysis (SOXE) Device designed and manufactured by the OxEon team.
