DOE Announces $20 Million to Produce Clean Hydrogen from Nuclear Power

OxEon is partnering with PNW Hydrogen LLC, Idaho National Laboratory, the National Energy Technology Laboratory, National Renewable Energy Laboratory, the Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI), Arizona State University, UC Irvine and Siemens Energy to execute a Power-to-Power demonstration at the Palo Verde Generating Station , a 4-GW #nuclear power plant in #Arizona. This program was recently funded through the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE)'s HFTO and NE offices and will make progress on the DOE's #HydrogenShot goal of $1 per 1kg in 1 decade.

OxEon will build and integrate a solid oxide electrolysis stack to produce either #hydrogen via steam electrolysis, carbon monoxide by carbon dioxide electrolysis, or a mixture of the two (#syngas (CO-H2)) by co-electrolysis of steam and carbon dioxide. The produced carbon monoxide or syngas will then be fed to an OxEon Fischer Tropsch synthesis system to demonstrate production of liquid hydrocarbon fuels in a process known as Power To Fuels (aka #PTX or #Efuels). OxEon’s technical expertise will be used in the integrated system design, as well as operation of the system.
